Gideon Retief

Managing Director

Gideon has spent 15+ years in agency land, driving success for some of NZ’s leading brands by delivering world-class digital solutions. His operational skills, client service, and project management expertise give him a platform to help businesses perform in fast-moving, innovative environments.

In addition to sporting a charming salt-and-pepper beard, Gideon is passionate about branding, UX, and helping businesses get positioned for growth by putting the right structures in place. With a thorough grip on current and emerging tech, and experience managing high-performance production teams, Gideon is an essential part of Foundation’s service delivery.

Carl Thompson

Creative Director

Carl is a creative director, digital marketer, and brand and marketing strategist with over 20 years’ experience. Just as importantly, Carl has actually founded his own companies - including TradeGecko, a Kiwi software success story that sold to Intuit in 2020.

He started his journey at Media Design School at the age of 17 and has since founded companies including Foundation Digital (Agency), TradeGecko (B2B SaaS, sold to Intuit), Contento (B2B SaaS), Crowded Elevator (Apparel), and NZ Coffee Festival (Event). Nothing gets Carl more revved up than turning a good idea into reality.

Carl has worked with companies both locally and internationally, including: Fonterra, SkyCity, Remix Magazine, The Attention Agency, RAW, Fitwear, NZ Fashion Week, Laminata, Golden Gate Ventures and many, many more.

Jess Lee

PA & Office Administrator

Jess keeps our team on their toes and the Foundation engine purring. With a Bachelor of Communications from Auckland University of Technology (majoring in Film and Digital Media), Jess packs a punch as a scholar. But don't be fooled, her background in administration and digital project management means she's got street smarts to boot.

A potent cocktail of attention to operational detail with knowledge of digital design enables Jess to deliver exceptional support for the team, ensuring deadlines are met and the office is a place we want to spend time.

Olivia Rogers

Business Development Manager

Olivia is an events and marketing powerhouse with a ton of local and international experience. Her background in business development gives her an appreciation for the importance of growth, while her managerial experience means she knows all about delivery.

Olivia’s not afraid of a deadline, and could tire out the Energiser Bunny twice before breakfast. Her enthusiasm and creativity are huge assets for Foundation and our clients.

Frankie Kingston

Intermediate Designer

Frankie is a Web and Graphic Designer who graduated from the Youbee School of Design in 2019, where she studied Web and Graphic Design alongside Digital Design. In her role as Digital and Web Designer for Zuru Edge, she has already worked with reputable local brands such as MONDAY Haircare, Dose and Co., Nood Pet Food, and many other ZURU Edge FMCG brands.

Frankie’s passions align with our own, with an eye for good design, creative and innovative branding solutions as well as a strong illustration skill set. Her hunger to learn, grow and adapt to the ever changing market brings an edge to an already impressive eye for design.

Georgina Bullworthy

Digital Advertising & SEO

Georgina (AKA George) is an experienced Sales & Marketing Manager with a 20-year history of working in FMCG, Health and Beauty, hospitality, and FINTECH. Skilled in Digital Marketing, Consumer Products, Trade Marketing, Marketing Strategy, Customer Journey and Search Engine Optimisation.

Harry Maher

Designer

Harry is a self-taught digital designer with a keen eye for clean modern styles. His passion for creating beautiful aesthetics wasn’t being met by his previous role as a roofer. With the internet at his fingertips, he dived into many online courses to gain the skills necessary to make the jump from roofer to designer.

Harry’s mature sense of style and hunger for knowledge is something that can not be taught. He adds great value to our resource toolkit and brings a unique and valuable skillset to the Foundation Digital team

Logan Tyson

Technical Copywriter

Logan spent over 10 years working in high-growth startups, leading sales and marketing teams and developing a wide range of go-to-market expertise.

He leans on his deep understanding of the customer and passion for communication to craft compelling and persuasive content, including web copy, sales collateral, campaign assets, blogs, white papers, and more.

Chris Lawrence

A founder and CTO in his own right, Chris specialises in growing digital products through quality, long-term, and scalable software development. He’s passionate about all things start-up, and brings an eye for product and a burning desire to solve real-world problems. Chris pushes the boundaries of what’s possible in a rapidly-changing digital world, backed by his team at Resync Digital.

Molly is a writer, wanderer, chronic overthinker.

Molly keeps the words flowing gracefully for our clients. She brings her own flair to the team with a little humour and a vehement devotion to planet earth.

Molly’s mission is simple; to be helpful. She is an immensely empathetic human, which enables her to create world-class creative copy by truly putting herself in the customer's shoes.
